Seasonal and Christmas Cards

I am sat in bed right now, sucking on "Fisherman's Friend" Menthol lozenges, as being ill with the throat hurts and writing a mini post for you.
Its about those little things, that matter, like greeting cards, and especially the one of the winter season - Christmas and New Year ones.
I have signed and posted all of them pretty much, leaving out only a few, which I am going to confirm the address on as people have moved or the ones which I am going to deliver by hand, since some of my friends live very nearby.

Being the person who likes receiving cards, I also like sending those, most of the times hand made, and sometimes, when I am super busy or ill (always happens only once a year, just before or during Christmas..yeah) I will buy the prettiest, fairy tale looking ones and then spend hours writing the essays inside every little card. I bet the receivers love me for that. But I always like to think that I have written everything inside from the heart and in the sincere manner and that way I can give a part of that warmth to the person on the other end as well.

How do you go around sending your Christma holiday cards?
Do you make them in advance or just buy and quickly sign?

The Elf and Christmas Cookies

I was imagining myself being an elf today, the one who makes those amazing shiny packages, wrapped in a transparent paper and tier with the red ribbon. And then gives them to people that matter. So for the inspiration I ate a small Christmas pudding and got up to business. Starting with baking a batch of cookies first. Red Velvet Cookies, or as I call them - Christmas Snowfall Cookies.

Seasonal Lanterns

I have received my recent order from "The White Company" today and that has prompted me to share with you my love for candles.
This love follows me all year round - in summer for the evening meals and garden or to fill the room with the smell of roses or summery flowers, in winter - to make the light part of the day last longer and to remind me how deliciously smelling winter spices are (cinnamon, clove, clementines).
Below you can see some of the "seasonal lanterns" I have been using recently and some of which I might/might not have bought as gifts for the coming holiday week.
Let me just tell you that the IKEA candles are the remains of my huge candle stack which was acquired by me from almost every single candle shelf IKEA had. And the ones which I didnt get - you can blame on my boyfriend, who made sure I get to see the rest of IKEA store goods that day.

(From left to right: White - Ribbonwick candle, red and dark-chocolate - Ikea, purple and rose - Bolsius, two white ones - The White Company)
One type of candles which is truly amazing are the Ribbonwick Candles, where the wick is not as we know it - wooden or cotton thread, but the rubbery looking piece of ribbon, which when lighted up looks like a pretty, horizontally long flame. A perfect addition to a gift or a gift on its own to the special someone for the holidays season or just because. I have provided the link under the photo where you could find those candles and buy before they get out of stock.

Hopefully everyone's week is going well and preparations for Christmas are not too stressful.

"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" 2013

I went to the cinema tonight to see a movie which I expected to be quite interesting, and really wanted to get into the head or Walter Mitty and see how does he dream. I am a dreamer myself, so I was intrigued to see what exactly the movie will be like and what the creator will choose to show us, viewers. Had a small doubt that it will be another slightly silly comedy with the jokes which are too old, but the movie well exceeded my expectations.
There was already a movie with the same title in 1947, where the story tells about the pulp-fiction proofreader, who likes to imagine his life to be completely different and full of adventures in his head. Whereas his actual life is far from what he imagines. While you cant call the 2013 movie a remake, the story line is more or less similar to the original.
The movie I saw tonight is about the negative assets manager, Walter Mitty, working for the "Life" magazine, who, in order to run away from the troubles and boredom of his current life keeps fantasizing how he would save the world, the girl from another department and how he will beat the new acquisition manager up. In fact, in real life he just gets used up by everyone around him because of his forgiving character and, especially, because of his dreamy nature, where he starts dreaming and switches off from the reality in the middle of doing something - be it at work, on the phone or at the train station.

He finds himself walking on the tight-rope of being made redundant by the company which acquired his current firm and trying to get hold of the 25th negative picture from the last set, which has image for the final cover of the last magazine and got lost.
So Mitty is almost pushed to start a journey of finding a photographer who made this negative in order to get it back before the publishing deadline runs out and the journey which eventually changes his life and his outlook. Walter starts making less and less escapes into his dream land...
There is a twist at the end of the movie as well, which you might or might not expect.

Ben Stiller was a producer for this movie and I think he's done rather well!

Definitely a movie to go and see with any type of your friend or family.
